Jayne knew she was destined to be in the theater from the age of four. She studied dance, voice and acting from her childhood through her years at Towson State University as a theater major. In the 1980s Jayne moved to NYC, continued her acting studies with Marcia Haufrecht and Phil Gushee, and voice and dance with several teachers. Her professional performing career immediately took off and she eventually garnered roles on Broadway and in National Tours, like THE KING AND I, starring Rudolf Nureyev and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Off-Broadway Jayne has been featured in several productions at THE IRISH REP; such as FINIAN’S RAINBOW with Melissa Errico, which had an original cast recording. With the NEW YORK GILBERT AND SULLIVAN PLAYERS she also was featured in OF THEE I SING and several G&S shows. Jayne has performed in shows for NYMF, MUSICALS TONIGHT, and the JOHN ENGEMAN THEATER, including JEKYLL AND HYDE and I MARRIED AN ANGEL. In between her musical theater career she found time to star in a few opera productions in such roles as Mimi in LA BOHEME and TOSCA. Currently she will be featured in writer/director Brad Mays’ independent feature film, ROAD RAGE, to be shot in the summer of 2014.
Jayne has always had a passion for the production side of theater as well. She has produced many benefit concerts and staged readings, like the original play THE PARIAH at the LEO BAECK INSTITUTE. She also produced and directed a multi-cultural music festival, with 100 performers, as part of a symposium at Teacher’s College in NYC. In 2012 Jayne was accepted into the Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) prestigious mentorship program for emerging producers. This led to her first commercial producing experience on Broadway, with GRACE, starring Paul Rudd, Michael Shannon and Ed Asner. Through TRU she also met the multi-Tony award winning producer, Cheryl Wiesenfeld, and has had the great fortune to be mentored by her for the past 2 years. Jayne’s current role is as lead producer on the upcoming musical FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD.
